GENERAL INFORMATION
Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 1976. Mechanical Engineering Department has educational undergraduate and graduate (M.Sc. and Ph.D) programs. Department has 60 academic staff 20 Professors, 2 Associated Professors, 9 Assistant Professors, 11 Instructors, 18 Research Assistant.
Mechanical Engineering Department has 6 divisions; (1) Design and Manufacturing, (2) Thermodynamics, (3) Energy, (4) Machine Theory and Dynamics, (5) Mechanics and (6) Automotive. Also, there are three options; (1) Design and Manufacturing, (2) Heat and Energy and (3) Automotive. Students take specialization option course according their interests.
Recent advances in computer and electronics technology have effects on mechanical engineering. Department has significant consideration to prepare students to meet expectations of industry and to follow and apply recent technological developments in mechanical engineering field. Therefore, CAD/CAM/CAE (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing/Computer Aided Engineering) related courses embedded into educational programs and laboratories are established to teach CAD/CAM/CAE and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) techniques.
Department has involved with projects and gives consultancy for firms especially in the city of Bursa which has several automotive and textile sector related firms.
The
graduates of the department not only work in universities
and research institutions but also have the possibilities
of finding jobs and work in almost every branch
of industry. For instance, in automotive and automotive
supplementary industries, in textile factories,
in cast and machinery production industry, in
die and tooling industry, in installation sector,
in the applications and production sector.
Department
has five different laboratories
• Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics
and Hydraulic Machinery Lab.
